The Drum, in association with video content producer WatchMojo, is inviting attendees to WatchMojo Live to celebrate its channel launch in the UK.
WatchMojo founder, Ashkan Karbasfrooshan, regarded as one of the pioneers of the ‘list and rankings’ format in online content, is rumoured to be planning a UK office later this year.
The event, WatchMojo Live, Creativity Travels, takes place on Wednesday 12 July at YouTube space in London.
The first half of the event will feature speakers Kim Snow, creative director of Google USA, Ben Jones, former CTO of AKQA, and Hussain Manawer, poet, campaigner, and astronaut.
Snow’s presentation will focus on what makes ads enjoyable for consumers in a world filled with content. Following Google’s decision to no longer force YouTube viewers to watch 30-second unskippable ads, she will explain the theory behind Unskippable Labs, a series of experiments by Google to figure out the power of stories, choice, and attention in today’s digital world.
In his talk, “Thinking like a child”, Jones will reveal how marketers can get their creativity back and combine it with technology to get the best results.
Manawer will become the UK’s first Muslim astronaut next year and will speak about the importance of bringing wellness and mental health issues on to the agenda.
The second-half of the event will then turn into “WatchMojo Live” – featuring influencers, virtual reality gaming and top music acts that will be live-streamed on the WatchMojo channel. Guest acts will include Bluey Robinson and Leif Erikson.
As WatchMojo eyes the UK market, the potential reach of video across audiences seems limitless. One in three Britons view at least one online video a week – a weekly audience of more than 20 million people in the UK alone.
