The latest executive moves across the music industry…
First, there’s turmoil at Twitter: the company has plans to announce the appointment of two new board members, whose names remain unreleased. The ‘other shoe’ on that will be the departure of multiple Twitter executives, with the exit of four Twitter executives announced Sunday evening. The executives getting the ax are Alex Roetter, Twitter’s senior vice president of engineering; Kevin Weil, senior vice president of product; Katie Jacobs Stanton, vice president of global media; and Brian Schipper, vice president of human resources.
Next-gen jukebox company TouchTunes has just tapped former Microsoft executive Ross Honey as its new president and COO. Based in New York, Honey will report into chairman and CEO, Charles Goldstuck.
Vevo has named Tom Connaughton as senior vice president of content and programming for the US, beginning February 1st. Tom is currently Vevo’s vice president of International Content and Programming, and currently lives in London but is due to relocate to New York in the coming weeks.
SoundCloud has appointed Raoul Chatterjee as director of content partnerships, based in London. Raoul comes to SoundCloud from 7digital Group where he served as SVP of Music. Raoul also previously ran the commercial division of Warner Music UK as their senior vice president of Commercial.
ASCAP has promoted Nicole George-Middleton and Shawn LeMone to senior vice presidents, membership. Since joining ASCAP in 2008, George-Middleton has signed some of ASCAP’s top talent, including Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Fetty Wap. As head of Film & TV for more than six years, LeMone attracted and developed composers including Jóhann Jóhannsson and Jeff Lippencott.
Sky has hired Daniel Friedlaender to head its new EU office in Brussels. Before joining Sky, Friedlaender worked at IFPI, representing the interests of companies including Universal Music, Sony Music and Warner Music.
Elsewhere, Downtown Music Publishing has named Emily Stephenson as senior manager, International. In her new role in New York, Stephenson will manage global administration of Downtown’s copyrights, focusing on increasing efficiency in data management with its foreign offices, affiliates and over 40 international collections societies. She will report to Sean McGraw, Downtown’s vice president, Administration.
Univision Communications Inc. has named veteran radio programmer and executive Alejandro Nieto Molina as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Radio.
Warner Music Canada promoted Steve Warman to vice president, publicity, rising from his role as director of National Publicity.
Prolifica Management expanded with the addition of a new writer/DJ/producer division and new staff members: Adam Parylak will head up the new division and will work alongside Emma Jay Marsh. Also joining Prolifica is Lauren Clifford, who previously worked at the Coda Agency as a management assistant. The company also elevated Matt Pilcher to general manager.
Synergy appointed Arnon Woolfson as head of entertainment. Woolfson previously held roles at Sanctuary Group PLC and Entertainment Media Research, as well as Sony Music International, where he served as Director of Alliances EMEA during 2007-2009.
Peermusic appointed Carter Armstrong SVP of film and television. Armstrong was the previous head of music at Lionsgate Entertainment, where he supervised over 20 films including The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I, Divergent and Insurgent.
Music Canada elevated Amy Terrill to executive VP, rising from her role as VP of public affairs. In her new role, Terrill will continue to oversee Music Canada’s branding, research, communications and media relations activities, and play a leadership role in federal, provincial and municipal government relations and stakeholder outreach.
And SESAC has just promoted Glen Phillips to associate VP of Writer/Publisher Relations. Phillips, based in LA, will report into Sam Kling, SESAC senior VP, Creative Operations.
