Sportswear company Adidas has come under fire from Colombians for a calamitous ‘Columbian’ ad campaign.
The brand is facing the crucible over a glaring typo (that I also made when drafting this article) in its advertising, mistaking Colombia for ‘Columbia’.
Images from the company’s outdoor advertising drive in the US have surfaced on Twitter with a lot of hate being directed towards the brand for failing to correctly name the national side its athlete, James Rodriguez, plays for.
The marketing material was created to support the Copa America, the definitive national football competition for nations in the Americas.
Adidas told Sky News: “We value our partnership with the Colombian Football Federation and apologise for our mistake. We removed these graphics and are quickly installing new versions.”
